Overview
3-Amino-9-ethylcarbazole (AEC) is a commonly used horseradish peroxidase (HRP) chromogenic substrate. In the presence of HRP, AEC produces a red precipitate and is widely used in immunohistochemistry (IHC), in situ hybridization (ISH), and related applications. This chromogenic system provides a high-contrast signal and is particularly useful when a signal distinct from the brown color produced by DAB systems is required.
